Introduction

International Building Press (IBP) was founded in 1969 by a group of forward looking editors writing about the construction industry. Since that time IBP has provided a unique forum for national, regional, business and technical journalists, and communications professionals involved in the architecture, construction, housing and commercial property sectors. The focus of IBP is to organise activities which help broaden members’ knowledge and understanding of the industry.

Administered by an executive board elected from the membership each year, IBP arranges press exchanges, for the benefit of both young journalists and PR’s on a range of subjects, from building relationships in the sector to the constantly changing digital development that assists all of us to inform and keep in touch.

The IBP Awards, established in 1973 recognise excellence in journalism in the built environment and offer substantial prizes as well as prestige to the winners.
The Communication and PR Awards scheme launched in 2013 was introduced to showcase major PR successes and campaigns in the built environment to highlight good communications skills and innovation.

Whilst all IBP events have a serious career and CPD aspect to them, they also have a social element to them which provides an informal opportunity for members and their guests to meet leading journalists and communicators working in the industry.
